The search box exists in the Project tab and the Hierarchy tab. There are a few non-documented options that it supports.

^ Search Term      ^ Result       ^
| t:Type | All objects with the given type. Can search for components. ((The component name **must** be typed out in full))|
| l:Label| All assets with the given asset label.|
| glob:"<glob_text>" | Selects objects using a glob language.  See below. |

Unity searches support globbing, but it seems to be a custom language. ((https://forum.unity.com/threads/preset-manager-filters.880333/))

| * | Any number of any character |
| ? | Any single character |
| (X|Y|Z) | Any one of the strings X, Y, or Z |

The last "OR" syntax can be repurposed to also match against 'nothing':

| Text(|_test).png | Either Text.png or Text_test.png |

The glob syntax applies to names, not paths.
